Missed you.

My wife is 10 years younger than me, and yes, it's happened to me too. My actual daughter, though, who is a year older than you, still gets carded in bars. Sorry, you probably didn't need to know that. Actually I think it's because she's short, almost a foot shorter than you. Yes, that's what it is. It's a height thing.

Would someone take this shovel out of my hands? I think I need to stop digging.

Thanks John, that helps 😂😭 Also, your theory doesn’t hold water: Joel is several inches taller than me 😭😭

Jill,

I missed your posts but understand your focus on your book. I enjoyed this as usual.

But the Yankees? The symbol for so many years of NEW YORK sports aristocracy? Not my poor, second class Mets?

Not sure if it’s worse to say this but I don’t actually give a shit about baseball 🫣 I was just trying to make John feel extra bad about that hole he was digging ⛏️🥸

Now I'm getting flashbacks of a Yankees-Mets game, one of the last at the old Shea Stadium. $9 for a warm Budweiser in a plastic cup and a lady behind me chanting "Mets suck" for the entire game which went into extra innings.

I actually have zero allegiance to a particular team (if any: the Seattle Mariners, from that one summer I lived there and went to a few games) but boy do I like the buzz and the crap beer 🤩

The only other baseball game I've been to was a Mariners game (I live on Whidbey Island) and it was a more pleasant experience. Even the beer was good! My only enduring allegiance is to Pompey (Portsmouth) in football.

Hi Jill. Nice to see you back. I was concerned something had happened.

Don’t worry about ageing. Easy to say but it doesn’t make any difference whatsoever (worrying), so don’t buy in.

Glad to hear you maybe have a book on the go. Any others? All the best, John.

Thanks John, been trying to focus on bigger projects and the newsletter took a hit…. but I’ll try to get more regular again, because I forgot how much I enjoy writing essays. Thanks for being such a great reader. 🙏 And don’t worry, I’m ok w getting older. I just wish people would stop mistaking me for Joel’s mother. 😭🫣🥸
