Oh, your Country piece is gorgeous. Time and place, and raging hormones, with a trans-oceanic frisson and lingering point (UK, north America...). Thank you!

Listened to this one while sitting outside on a nice sunny afternoon. Such a strong sense of place, and I enjoyed the thoughts on your past. Having been raised on a farm, I totally jived with your outlook on the city and the country. Looking forward to reading/listening to more.

Loved this, Jill! I love your descriptions of the country and the connection between land and memories - so evocative and beautifully worded. I guess I grew up in the country in a way but I think being from Shetland is unusual because although it's remote there are a lot of small towns. Some people do live in really isolated houses and anywhere outside of Lerwick (the biggest town) is thought of as "the country". Really though, we're all just islanders. Looking forward to the next part of this! ✨

From one country girl to another, Jill, this is such a beautiful post. And I'm intrigued at your cliffhanger!

(Danny, Champion of the World is such a beautiful book - it's one of my favourites. Those two: what a team!)

Wow. Thanks for sharing! Especially the song, I think music is so powerful and can take you right to the moment that someone is telling you about. I would never have heard that song otherwise.

Right from prehistory, people have grouped together – your chances of surviving are a better in the group! But I know there are 'outdoor types' who find remoteness exhilarating. Not me!

Actually, that is a song for you to listen to – 'Outdoor Type' by the Lemonheads
