I seem to live in an altogether different world. For instance, this is the first time I'm coming across Heated Rivalry. Perhaps because I'm not a woman? 🤔
I would love to get my hands on the book you're writing, Jill. I look forward to its release.
You've hit the nail on the head, Jill. "It’s why Substack has so lightly given up the fight to be the home of great writing and just become a nebulous “culture” monger." Yes. That's why Substack TV is now a thing, and serial novels just keep getting more and more back burnered. Unfortunately, it's also the only social media platform I've ever really clicked with, so I guess I'll just keep on.
Brilliant take on how absorption flattens content into skimmable bits. That training insight really nails it, the deeper friction of a novel demands something screen culture just cant deliver. I remeber digging through archives for a project and finding those same gaps where history went silent, ended up spending weeks trying to peice together what was deliberately erased.
This is just so exciting. Your substack is one I have to sit down and focus on because I know there are always amazing little nuggets that I’ll miss if I skim! Also, I started Heated Rivalry on a plane ride home from a work trip last night. Both wouldn’t and absolutely would recommend. Zero regrets.
Hi Jill! My Substack essays are probably mismatched to the absorption technique. And so is my reading in that I like to read entire posts without skimming. Perhaps it's because I read all my books on Kindle now. Intrigued by your book and looking forward to it.

That’s what I mean, why I feel like I have kind of made my peace w Substack. 🧘🏻♀️ After raging so long against what felt like the dying of its light…
Now I’m intrigued to watch Heated Rivalry. And await your book with anticipation!
🔥 on all counts

Maybe we were looking at the same erasure. Thank you for reading (not skimming)

On a plane?! On a work trip???!? My head just exploded. You are a Ballsy Queen. I’m in awe.
It was a whole scene. Maybe I’ll write about it. 😳
Please.
You are the master of teasers! I’m hooked
Can’t wait for you to read.
It would be my honor. I’m so proud and in awe of you for making this book (and a writing job?!) happen
Let’s talk. Much to catch up on!
Yes please!

Ace 🙂
A few things that I will comment in Substack when it sends me the fucking pin.
I spend hours a day in there but when it comes to commenting on your post (that landed in spam) - they want a fucking PIN NUMBER.
This was excellent writing.
I’ve not watched Heated Rivalry, but I fancy it.
xxx
Spam?! Sigh. HR is *excellent*, currently on my second watch. xxx
Ooh, tantalizing.
Hoping to provide succour soon.
Interesting. Intriguing. 117k!
Not one to shy away from a healthy word count but that probably is a bit much 😅
"Heated Rivalry deep..."! I guess we just have to wait.
You'll be one of the very first to hear, I promise.
